DBS Checks

IMPORTANT: have you lived outside of the UK for more than three consecutive months during the past five years? If so, click here.

In order to volunteer with Jacari, all volunteers are required to undergo an enhanced DBS check which will tell us about any spent and unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings. An enhanced check also shows any information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

In order to undergo the check, you will need to come to the Jacari office and bring three identification documents with you, including proof of your term-time address.

Route 1

The applicant must be able to show:

  • one document from Group 1

  • 2 further documents from either Group 1, or Group 2a or 2b

At least one of the documents must show the applicant’s current, term-time address

Route 2

If the applicant doesn’t have any of the documents in Group 1, then they must be able to show:

  • one document from Group 2a

  • 2 further documents from either Group 2a or 2b

At least one of the documents must show the applicant’s current, term-time address. The organisation conducting their ID check must then also use an appropriate external ID validation service to check the application.
