2020-21 STUDENT COMMITTEE
In Oxford, we have a Student Committee combined of officers from both University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University.
Hi, I'm Nailah, a second-year History and Politics student at Teddy Hall. I joined Jacari in 2019 as a tutor and have loved my experience so far! Tutoring for Jacari has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have had at university, and I'm excited to now lead the committee with my Co-President, Ray. I hope to work closely with the commitee to get more volunteers involved with the fantastic work that Jacari does!
Hey, I'm Ray, a third year studying Classics at Wadham. I've joined Jacari as a tutor and as one of this year's Co-Presidents. The work that Jacari does is so important - I'm really keen to work with Nailah and the rest of the committee to see the charity grow and to make sure that we're helping as many pupils as we possibly can!
Hi, I'm Joel, a second-year PPE'ist at St. Peter's. I'm grateful for the education that I have had and I want to share that with people who haven't had access to the same opportunites. Teaching with Jacari is a rewarding experience and I'm looking forward to increasing its reach to more pupils and volunteers.
Hey I’m Maddie! I’m a third-year student at Oxford Brookes and I first joined Jacari as a tutor in my second year. After enjoying it so much I am now one of the Teaching Officers and I hope I can help many volunteers to have a wonderful experience as a Jacari tutor. It’s amazing to be part of the Jacari community and I hope to see many more people flourish in this coming year.
Hey! I'm Hamza, a third-year English Literature student at Somerville. I can’t wait to get to know all the Jacari tutors and help support them through workshops and inductions throughout the year. I want to ensure that every tutor feels fully supported in their role and can make the most of their time volunteering!
Hi! I'm Annie, a second-year Medicine student at Queen's. Though I'm quite new here, I've loved the tutoring I've done so far, as it brings you outside the bubble of university, and I feel like I'm doing something useful! I am looking forward to working with the other volunteers to create fun events for everyone next year.
Hello! I'm Clarissa, a second-year biomedic at St. John's. Even though I only started volunteering with Jacari at the start of this year, it has already been an amazing experience and I can't wait to work with the other committee members to help Jacari reach out to more children!
Hello, I'm Isabel, a third-year Historian at Lincoln College. I have recently joined Jacari as a publicity officer, and I'm looking forward to tutoring and getting the word out about Jacari far and wide!
Hey, I'm Ed, a second-year Classicist at St Anne's College. I joined Jacari in November of last year and have greatly enjoyed every moment of it! I'm greatly looking forward to working with the committee to put on events and to help the charity to grow.
Hi! I'm Acacia, a third-year International Relations and Politics student at Oxford Brookes. At university, I wanted to find ways of making a difference in my community and Jacari offers the perfect opportunity to do that! I've volunteered for Jacari for 2 years now and have found the experience so fun and rewarding. I'm so excited to get more involved this year and let more students in Oxford know about what a wonderful charity Jacari is!
