3 Steps to Becoming a Jacari Oxford Volunteer!

1. Click the  Apply Now button below to fill out our online application form. In this form we will ask you to provide the details of at least one reference (two, if you are not currently a student). The referee(s) could be an employer, personal tutor or teacher, and should not be related to you. If you require the application form in a more accessible format—for example in large text or completed verbally—please get in touch directly so we can arrange this.

2. Sign up for and complete our induction programme. This includes completing an online self-study Safeguarding Course and Volunteer Induction, and a Teaching Skills  Training session on Zoom. Details will be sent by email once you've completed the application form.

3. Book a DBS check appointment with the Lead Coordinator (this will take place remotely via Zoom or Google Meet)

We conduct a DBS check to make sure you are safe to work with children. It involves filling in a an online form with your personal details and address history as well as showing 3 documents to prove your identity. Click here to find out which documents to bring.

PLEASE NOTE: You can do steps 2 and 3 in any order, but you will only be matched with a pupil once you have done both.

If you have any questions about this process, please email the Lead Coordinator at oxford@jacari.org.

"Jacari is a brilliant way to meet people outside of college as well as giving back to the local community . . . I have built up a solid relationship with my pupil and it is incredibly rewarding to see him improve week by week"

-Molly, Jacari Oxford Volunteer

"Jacari is fun because you get to go places and do activities. So my friends get quite excited when they hear they are getting a Jacari teacher and talk about it a lot at school. I look forward to each lesson loads!"

- Khaleel, Jacari Oxford Pupil
