Another year of Jacari tutoring sessions, trips and events have come to an end, and with the school holidays just about here, we wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to the individuals and organisations who have played such a crucial role in supporting and sustaining our work over the last year.
This year we've been so grateful for the enthusiasm, effort and commitment of our community fundraisers. Between them, our runners took on the Athens Marathon, the Great Bristol Run and the Blenheim Palace 7k, raising over £8,800 for Jacari. We're looking forward to growing our community fundraising family even more over the next year — our runners will be back in Bristol and Blenheim next year and we’d love to involve as many people as possible. If running isn’t your thing, there are lots of other ways to support our work. Get in touch — we'd love to hear your fundraising ideas.
Jacari's work wouldn't be possible without the ongoing support of our individual donors — thank you to all of you! It was wonderful to celebrate Jacari and its impact with some of you at our 70th anniversary party in June. We've also been delighted by the extra support we've had this year, especially as part of our Big Give campaign in June, where match funding from the People's Postcode Lottery doubled the generosity of our individual supporters. We've got another exciting match funding opportunity coming up in Oxford as we enter the new school year — do get in touch if you'd like to hear more.
Lastly, a big thank you to all our organisational funders who have made our work possible over the last year. They have not only enabled us to continue to deliver and develop all four of our tutoring programmes across both cities but allowed us to learn from and develop our work so that we can continue to make a difference for the wonderful children and young people we support.
We're looking forward to seeing what the next year brings but for now we'll leave the last word to a parent from Oxford, whose daughter Anna* has been part of our tutoring programme this year:
“We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Jacari for all the support and encouragement you have given Anna during her time here. The volunteer tutoring and extra help with her English skills and homework have been incredibly valuable to her.
As a student whose first language is not English, moving to a new country and school was a big challenge, but the kindness, patience, and support from Jacari made a real difference to her confidence and progress.
We are truly thankful for all the time and care your team and volunteers have given her. Thank you again for all your wonderful work supporting young people from different backgrounds. We will always remember your kindness with gratitude”
