Running the Athens Marathon in Memory of Jacari Volunteer Ezra

March 31, 2026

"Running for Jacari and Ez made it especially meaningful, and knowing I had the support of you all, as well as friends and family, behind me made a huge difference"

Back in November, we were incredibly moved and inspired by one of our supporters, James Smith, taking on the Athens Marathon in memory of his cousin Ezra, who was a Jacari volunteer.

Running in hot and humid weather, James completed an incredible and gruelling 42.2 kilometres along the original Ancient Greek Marathon route. Through these efforts he raised an amazing £5,955 to support Jacari's work. After the event he told us:

“We’re really proud of everyone who pulled together to support the fundraising effort, and I truly hope the money raised goes on to make a real difference to the work Jacari does”

Fundraising efforts like this make a huge difference to Jacari’s work, enabling us to support children and young people to fulfill their potential.

We would like to say a big, heartfelt thank you to James for taking on this amazing challenge on Jacari's behalf.

There are lots of ways you can support Jacari through community fundraising, contact Eleanor Tomlinson on fundriasing@jacari.org if you’re feeling inspired to get involved!
