Spring kids' events!

We've arranged some fun events this month for the young people we are supporting. Trips and events are a key part of our programme as they give children the opportunity to do something fun in their local community and practise their English.

Cooking classes

In Bristol, we organised two visits to the brilliant Coexist Community Kitchen with small groups of pupils and volunteers. We've established a strong partnership with this non-profit cookery school in Easton, Bristol and our pupils love going there and having a go at cooking. This time we made pasties with different savoury filings. It really helps them to practise their English in a fun way using lots of food and cooking vocabulary, as well as recipes and instructions. Some of the pupils even wrote a review of the trip - we love what they've written!

Magic show

In Oxford, we organised a fun magic show for our pupils at St Christopher's Primary School, where our volunteers support a big group of EAL pupils in an after-school club. The magician, Jamie Jibberish, runs Magic for Smiles which specialises in magic shows for children from refugee communities. He put on a great show, which was very interactive, with many of the children getting involved with lots of laughter and fun!
