Exploring the SS Great Britain

We recently took some of our Jacari Bristol pupils on a fun-filled day trip to the SS Great Britain, one of the most important historic ships in the world. We were excited to explore the ship and learn about its fascinating history, and we weren't disappointed!

As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by friendly staff who gave us a quick overview of what to expect during our visit. Then we stepped aboard the SS Great Britain and were transported back in time to the 19th century.

Stepping back in time

The children had an absolute blast during our trip to the SS Great Britain. They were fascinated by the ship and loved learning about its history. But what really made the experience special for them was the chance to dress up in old clothes and pretend to be sailors from the 19th Century. They tried on hats, coats, and other accessories. It was amazing to see how much joy and excitement this simple activity brought to them. They really got into character and it made the whole experience even more immersive and memorable.

One of the highlights of the trip was exploring the ship's many levels, from the cramped quarters of the crew to the luxurious cabins of the first-class passengers. The children were amazed by the size of the ship and loved getting a glimpse into what life was like for those who sailed on it.

We also had the opportunity to learn about the ship's innovative engineering, which made it one of the most advanced vessels of its time. From the powerful steam engine to the iron hull, the SS Great Britain was truly a marvel of engineering.

Parents joined in!

In addition to the children, some of their parents also came along on our trip to the SS Great Britain. It was a great opportunity for them to spend some quality time with their children and experience a fun and educational activity together. The parents also got to know each other and build connections with other families in the community. We're so grateful to the parents who came along and helped make the trip even more special.

A fantastic experience

Overall, our trip to the SS Great Britain was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. We learned so much about Bristol's maritime history and had a great time exploring the ship. We're so glad we were able to provide this fun and educational opportunity for the children in our charity.

We're also extremely grateful to the staff and volunteers who made our visit so memorable, and we hope to come back again soon!
